INSTALLATION

Ask us about installation services.

Foamtec products are made of high-density, polyurethane foam. Each piece comes with a solid coat of primer. Prior to installation it is required that a solid finish coat of oil or acrylic based latex paint be applied to all edges and surfaces of the product. Do not allow raw (un-coated, yellow colored) polyurethane products to be exposed to ultra violet sunlight. If product needs to be trimmed, the trimmed edge must be coated with both a solid coat of primer and a solid finish coat of oil or acrylic based latex paint. It is recommended that Foamtec products be installed with a urethane based adhesive along with mechanical fasteners. The adhesive should be applied in a continuous bead at the outside edge of the product. Mechanical fasteners should be applied at the ends of each piece and approximately every 12"-16" on center depending on the size and shape of the piece. Mechanical fasteners should also penetrate a minimum of 1" into solid backing. Always apply a sealant to the screw holes when penetrating the structure's sub-strata. This will prevent water from leaking through the holes. If you recess the fastener into the polyurethane product, the indentation should be filled with BondoT, or a non shrinking exterior grade spackle, and sanded prior to the final coat of paint.

Installation - Simulated Tile Vents

Simulated tile vents are made with a backer board. The preffered method of installation is for the backer board and vent to be installed prior to the stucco lath. Fasten the backer board to solid framing members, with an adequate number of mechanicalfasteners penetrating a minimum of 1" into solid backing. The lathing contractor must inter-weave the lath paper and flashing around the backer board, creating a water-tight system. The wire and stucco will cover the backer board leaving the tile.

Installation - Truss Tails

Fit truss tail over the bottom of the structural truss. Scribe the back side of the truss tail to the parallel with the exterior wall of the structure. Cut the truss tail to the desired length. Fit the truss tail tightly over the truss and shim if necessary. Attach with a continuous bead of urethane based adhesive at the truss tail edge and then install an adequate number of mechanical fasteners, penetrating a minimum of 1" into the side of the truss.

Installation - Corbel and Knee Brace

Install corbels and knee braces to a flat clean solid surface. If the corbels has a pocket to fit over solid backing, attach chacking material directly over a flat, solid surface. Attach with a continuous bead of urethane based adhesive with mechanical fasteners, penetrating a minimum of 1" into a solid backing.

Installation - Shutters

Shutters should be installed over a flat, clean, dry, solid surface. 1" x 3" vertical backing strips should be installed 2" away from window and 2" in from the outside edge of the shutter width. Apply a continuous bead of urethane based adhesive to backing strips, and then apply a cross-hatched pattern of adhesive in the field of the shutter. Hold shutter in place and install mechanical fasteners at an upward angle to the vertical backing strips approximately every 12"-16" on center depending on the size of the shutter penetrating a minimum of 1" into the solid backing. Screw holes should be filled with a premium exterior wood filler or Bondo. Caulk around all edges.

Installation - Crown Molding

Apply urethane based adhesive to back of molding. Apply to wall and finish with screws or nails. Patch holes made from screws or nails with BondoTM or a non shrinking exterior grade spackle. Sand, prior to the final coat of paint. Caulk around edges if desired.

Installation - Faux Beams

Install wood blocking (same width as inside of beam) to the mounting surface approximately every 24"-36", running the full length of the beam.
Apply urethane based adhesive on the top edges of the beam.
Slide beam over mounting blocks.
Fasten to both sides of the wood blocks with screws or nails.
Putty over screw/nail indentions

Installation - Trim

Apply urethane based adhesive to back of trim. Apply to wall and finish with screws. If desired, patch holes made from screws with BondoT or a non shrinking exterior grade spackle. Sand, prior to the final coat of paint. Caulk around edges.
