Shutters should be installed over a flat, clean, dry, solid surface. 1" x 3" vertical backing strips should be
installed 2" away from window and 2" in from the outside edge of the shutter width. Apply a continuous
bead of urethane based adhesive to backing strips, and then apply a cross-hatched pattern of adhesive
in the field of the shutter. Hold shutter in place and install mechanical fasteners at an upward angle
to the vertical backing strips approximately every 12"-16" on center depending on the size of the shutter
penetrating a minimum of 1" into the solid backing. Screw holes should be filled with a premium exterior
wood filler or Bondo. Caulk around all edges.
